Sil Arata

Sil focuses on small-business planning, exit strategies, estate planning, and life insurance solutions for Vancouver-area clients.

Sil began his insurance career in December of 1981 with the New York Life Insurance Company, where he learned the basics of life insurance and the various policy formats and applications.

In an effort to broaden his exposure and become more diversified and independent, Sil joined Floyd Watkins and Associates, Inc. in December of 1983.  His primary attraction to this agency was the level of involvement in the preeminent industry association, the National Association of Life Underwriters (NALU) – which later transitioned to the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA in 1993).

(Circa 1986-1991) Sil became a career agent with Standard Insurance Company, where earned his LUTCF (Life Underwriters Training Council Fellowship) designation and several company awards.

From his beginnings in the insurance industry Sil has been active in his professional association. Working his way to the level of local President of the Vancouver-Clark County Chapter of NAIFA covering 1994 and in 1995.  Taking on regional and statewide positions until 2000 when Sil was elected as the NAIFA Secretary for the State of Washington, progressing to Treasurer, President-Elect and ultimately President of the Washington State Chapter for NAIFA in the years covering 2002 and 2003.  

Sil’s focus on the insurance community is in the business continuation market, using various planning tools to include Key Person and Buy/Sell life insurance and disability insurance concepts. In addition, Sil works with many employers to provide the benefits needed by their employees. 

In the individual market Sil Concentrates on preparing families for unforeseen events, using life insurance, disability insurance, long term care and investment products with an emphasis on creating sustainable retirement income streams.

Sil has been a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table and has served many volunteer positions with The March of Dimes, Southwest Washington Forward Thrust (SWIFT) and enjoys golf, fishing, hunting and vacationing with his family 

Sil was married to his wife, Candy, in 1981.  Together they have one son, Nick, who was born in 1982 and welcomed a daughter-in-law, Erin, in 2015.
